Yesterday we received our first unit of second year broadcast media, the aim of this brief is to create a five min film that has been adapted from one of the following: - Poem, - Short story,- Graphic Novel/ Comic Strip, i have decided to do a short story my reason for this is because in a short story there will be lots of different details in there that i can play around with change slightly to create something that i can bring my skills form video arts into and make the video fun and different, The stories and authors I've been looking at are: Tim Burton, Brothers Grimm and Aesop, the reason for these authors was because their stories really stand out for me Tim Burton does cause he is dark and his short stories are lovely but they do have a dark meaning behind them and i can play around with making the video lighter and i can play with different elements of the story, Brothers Grimm was a good choice because their stories have already been adapted into fairy tales and made lovely and sweet but their true meaning are more dark and have that hit of reality and Aesop was chosen because his story The Ant and the Grasshopper has a moral to the story which can be my theme in the video. I have also been looking into Visual Artists to see if i can draw some inspiration from them seeing if they can teach me anything that will make my video striking and stand out which if i pick a Tim Burton film it will need that something that spark that will be unusual and that it also pushes my creative skills to their limit and to challenge myself.
